Most veterinarians will tell you that a portion of the injuries they see on a daily basis are preventable - animals are falling, jumping, leaping from places they shouldn't be or due to running too hard they rip an ACL. Veterinary Pet Insurance has come up with a
list of the most common.

-
Foreign Objects in the Foot - Sharp glass or other sharp objects.
- Snake Bite - If you take your animal camping, check with the local park rangers to see if rattlesnakes are common in the area.
- Lacerations/Bite Wounds - The most common between like species or from wild animal attacks on domestic animals.
- Insect Bites/Stings - As in humans, the harm from a bite or sting depends on the animal's hypersensitivity.

- Foreign Object in Ear - One of the more common injuries caused by overeager owners attempting to clean their pets ears or plant related objects imbedded from
an overly eager digging in an area with bushes and plants
- Abrasions - Similar to a skinned knee for a human.
- Eye Trauma - Eye infection or a poke or scratch to the eye should always be treated as an emergency and per the veterinarians interviewed, word of advice - don't let your dog hang his or her head out of your vehicle's. It makes them vulnerable to injury from
getting debris or bugs in their eyes.
- Torn Nail - easy to do when you have an active animal.
- Foreign Object in Skin - Flys will lays eggs and larvae will develop.
- Punctures - Stepping on a nail, or brush against a tree or get splinters while climbing under
a fence.
